Template notice. This policy is a working draft provided as a starting point. Before publishing, have it reviewed by qualified legal counsel and replace the bracketed placeholders (e.g. [Legal entity name], registration details) with your registered company information and jurisdiction.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by [Legal entity name] ("Becvora", "we", "us", or "our"), a studio based in Lagos, Nigeria. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at support@becvora.com.

2. What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us. Specifically:

Beta waitlist

When you join the Sootru beta list, we collect:

  • Your email address;
  • The user type you select (e.g. journalist, activist, creator, photographer, other);
  • Your consent choices: whether you agreed to receive updates and whether you accepted this policy and our terms.

Contact messages

When you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you submit.

Technical information

Like most websites, our infrastructure and service providers may automatically process limited technical data (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies on this site.

3. How we use it

  • To manage the Sootru beta waitlist and grant access in stages;
  • To respond to your enquiries and messages;
  • To send product updates and beta notifications, where you have consented;
  • To operate, secure, and improve our website and services;
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Legal bases

Where applicable data-protection law (such as the Nigeria Data Protection Act or the EU/UK GDPR) applies, we rely on: your consent (for marketing updates and waitlist participation), our legitimate interests (operating and securing the site and responding to enquiries), and legal obligation where required.

5. Where your data lives

We use Supabase as our database and backend provider to store waitlist entries and contact messages on our behalf. Supabase acts as a data processor and may store data on infrastructure located outside Nigeria. We take reasonable steps to ensure any transfer is subject to appropriate safeguards.

6. How long we keep it

We keep waitlist and contact information for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes above (for example, until the beta concludes or you ask us to remove you), and then delete or anonymise it, unless a longer period is required by law.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@becvora.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

You can unsubscribe from product updates at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and the relevant authorities of any breach as required by law.

9. Children

Our website and services are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where changes are significant, take reasonable steps to notify you.
